Fox announces The X-Files return

After many months of rumours and hinting a comeback, Fox announced that The X-Files is making a return to the small screen as a limited series.

Chris Carter, the creator of the show, and both stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are all on board. Carter expressed his enthusiasm: “I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” Carter said. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”

Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs of Fox Television Group, also stated their excitement for the new chapter of the show:

“We had the privilege of working with Chris on all nine seasons of The X-Files – one of the most rewarding creative experiences of our careers – and we couldn’t be more excited to explore that incredible world with him again. The X-Files was not only a seminal show for both the studio and the network, it was a worldwide phenomenon that shaped pop culture – yet remained a true gem for the legions of fans who embraced it from the beginning. Few shows on television have drawn such dedicated fans as The X-Files, and we’re ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they’ve been waiting for.”

Actor David Duchovny posted a message on Twitter confirming the news with the message ""It´s been 13 years. Hope my suits still fits". Anderson also posted a tweet that reads "Mulder it´s me. Are you ready?".

The show is expected to begin production in the summer although no more details or a premiere date have been revealed at the moment.

Fans all over the world are ecstatic and can´t wait to watch the new episodes. Are you excited for the return of this iconic show? Sound off in the comments!
